Will I Get A Retainer?

Orthodontic treatmentgirl holding retainers is a life-time commitment; you will only maintain your results as long as you are wearing your retainers as instructed. So yes, you will get a retainer after orthodontic treatment but don’t let that be a disappointment. All of the bones in your body change, remodel, and move over time, and your jaws and teeth are no different. Your teeth will move over time unless you are wearing your retainers.

However, this does not mean you have to wear your retainers 24/7 for the rest of your life. At Seim Orthodontics we recommend full-time wear for the first two months after braces, and then night-time wear indefinitely. Once you have been out of braces for several years, you can wear your retainer a couple nights a week instead of every night. If you wear your retainers less than instructed, your teeth will move.

We Want Your Smile To Stay Perfect

Your first set of retainers are included as part of your orthodontic treatment. However, if retainers are lost or broken, there is a fee to replace them. If you lose or break your retainers, we need to know as soon as possible so we can make new retainers before your teeth shift. There will be a noticeable change in your teeth after just a few days without retainers.
